Dr. Kian Karimi is a double-board certified cosmetic and reconstructive nasal and facial plastic surgeon / head and neck surgeon. Originally from Indiana, he completed his undergraduate studies with double degrees in Biochemistry and Spanish, graduating magna cum laude at the age of twenty. Dr. Karimi matriculated into Indiana University School of Medicine. He graduated with highest possible honors with subsequent induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society, a distinction reserved for the top 10% of medical students in the country.
Dr. Karimi completed his five-year surgery residency at the University of Florida, trained in otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat)-head and neck surgery. He performed over 2000 procedures during his term. During his residency, Dr. Karimi was recognized with numerous awards. He was selected on three separate occasions as Resident Teacher of the Year, by both the University of Florida College of Medicine and by the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Karimi is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery—a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) and he is a diplomate of the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ABFPRS).
Following his training, Dr. Karimi was selected for an additional fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. This fellowship, recognized by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ABFPRS), provided extensive training in rhinoplasty, revision rhinoplasty, and rejuvenation of the aging face through surgical and non-surgical methods. Dr. Karimi’s efforts were recognized by the Kris Conrad Merit Award in Facial Plastic Surgery, awarded to one individual per year who demonstrates “outstanding achievements in the field of research, perseverance in attaining the highest level of expertise in the performance of Facial Plastic Surgery.”
Dr. Karimi has been named a “Southern California SuperDoctor – Rising Star” for three consecutive years (2012, 2013, 2014). Dr. Karimi serves as one of the maxillofacial plastic surgeons for the Los Angeles Kings National Hockey League organization.
Dr. Karimi regularly participates in medical education of both resident physicians and medical students both at his office and at UCLA-Santa Monica Hospital. He lectures around the country on his innovative techniques in facial rejuvenation and is the national medical director for CosmoFrance, makers of the DermaSculpt microcannula and CosmoPen microneedling device. Dr. Karimi trains physicians and nurses from around the country (and international) at his office regularly with a hands-on course to learn these innovative techniques.
