Our Eyelid Surgery Specialists, Dr. Kian Karimi and Dr. Chester Griffiths provide expert blepharoplasty options to our patients at Pacific Eye & Ear Specialists, located in West Los Angeles.   Our board certified physicians have been providing expert plastic surgery and cosmetic options to patients in West Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Malibu, Beverly Hills and the Los Angeles area for many years.

Blepharoplasty is an eyelid surgery that removes excess wrinkles or bags under the eyes, creating a more youthful appearance.  During the aging process, wrinkles and lines contribute to a more aged appearance. Blepharoplasty surgery is often performed in conjunction with other facial procedures such as a face lift or rhinoplasty (nose surgery).

Reasons for Considering Blephoraplasty:

  • Dark circles or bags under the eyes.
  • Excessive skin or wrinkles surrounding the eyelids.
  • A tired appearance or puffiness due to inherited factors.
  • General Eyelid Surgery Procedure

The surgical procedure includes tiny incisions made in the natural contours around the eyes which should leave no visible scarring. Our eyelid surgery specialists will usually work on the upper eyelids first to remove any unwanted tissue and tighten the skin. Lower eyelids are completed next to eliminate puffiness and reduce dark circles. In some instances, laser technology may be used to smooth lower eyelid areas.  More non-surgical techniques may include Botox injections to firm fine lines and wrinkles.

The surgery generally takes about one to three hours and is performed in our medical practice. If additional cosmetic procedures are being performed, the treatment could last longer.

The Recovery Process for Blephoraplasty

Our post-operative instructions call for plenty of rest and limited movement in order to speed up the healing process and reduce the recovery time.  We recommend rest for the first 7-10 days after your blepharoplasty. You will likely experience some mild discomfort during this time. Your prescribed pain medication should alleviate any pain.   Most patients return to work after one week.   The benefits are long-lasting and you will have a more youthful appearance for years to come.
